Upcoming Tests in Choices

Hi everyone, 

Over the next few weeks and months, you will start to see a bit more variance in some of our passes, challenges, events and rewarded ads. Before we start doing that, I wanted to share with you a bit of background on what some of these changes are and why we are testing them. 

Daily rewarded videos

Rewarded videos were introduced into Choices in 2019, giving players the ability to watch 3 daily video ads in exchange for 1 diamond. Last year, we updated this feature to allow for 100 daily video ads and saw a 30% drop in our average revenue per monthly active player. This is related to how supply and demand works in the mobile ads economy. While we understand that a portion of our players enjoy watching ads for diamonds, we need to find a better balance in order to continue investing in both new and older stories. 

This week, we will roll out a new test to a randomly selected group of players, which will reduce the average amount of daily ads from 100 to 10. Over time, this amount might vary per country and other in-game activities, as we look to identify the best balance for our game and players. 

Daily Free Choice Pass

This pass was introduced at the end of last year granting 15 free premium choices to VIP players for one selected book a day. Over the last several months, we have been analyzing the usage of these passes to better tune them to be sustainable in the long-term and continue to offer this well-loved feature to our players. This week, you will see a new choice pass go out with 5 free premiums. We are committed to finding the perfect balance with these passes; as such, the amount and frequency of this offering may continue to vary as we explore different options that can both support our game and expand the value and amount of offerings for our VIP players. 

Premium Choice Discount Events

In June, we ran our first choice discount event with Open Heart! Through this event, players got a 20% discount on all premium choices during a 5 day period. We thank everyone who participated and are happy to announce that we are testing a new version of this event scheduled for July with Wake the Dead, which will run for 2 weeks. I hope everyone enjoys revisiting this world as much as we enjoyed building it and look forward to hearing if you'd like to see more of these events!
