Crimes of Passion 2

The gang is back and tangled in even more mystery! We’ve inquired a bit more about the Crimes sequel with the book team:

We left off in book one with some shocking events. What thrills and chills can we expect in Crimes of Passion 2?

Coral: In this deliciously dark sequel to Crimes of Passion, your new normal is upended when your partner Trystan is extradited to Drakovia. Turns out there’s some outstanding evidence in their fiancee’s murder case, and now it’s up to you and the Ginovesi Detective Agency to clear Trystan's name once and for all! But whether you’re in New York or Drakovia, it wouldn’t be a Crimes book without another murder to solve… and this time, one of Trystan’s venomous siblings is the killer! 

So we get to meet Trystan’s family this time around. In addition to them, are there any characters that will catch our attention?

Davi: For the most part, Crimes of Passion 2 keeps it "all in the family" as we have EIGHT of Trystan's siblings to meet (and interrogate!). But you will get a chance to meet some non-human characters in the form of a playful group of sea otters and Dravokia's own royal mascot, a snake named Orlenna. As far as Trystan's family goes, players will contend with some very strong personalities, including Lydea, the severe and tight-lipped Captain of the Guard; Vasili, a cunning strategist who grew up in Trystan's shadow; Astrid, a serial monogamist who tends to leave a trail of dead lovers in her wake, Sebastyan, the charismatic yet cutthroat politician fighting for equality; Kaspar, a notorious kleptomaniac and their twin sister Emika, a social media darling with a caustic wit; and Patryk, an influencer who finds humor in everything, even murder.

We collected a lot of clues in the previous book. Should we look forward to new clues to unravel?

Coral: Drakovia is a place of deep tradition, sinister secrets, and a cast of unusual characters we hope you love as much as we do. The Drakovian royal family hides their poisonous motives behind the glitz and glamor of their lifestyle. Who’s the most likely suspect for the murder that rocks the halls of the palace soon after you arrive? Is it second in line to the throne and Captain of the Guard, Lydea? Is it the deadly muse Astrid? Or perhaps it could be the twins straight out of The Shining. You’ll have to uncover all eight alibis to solve the case and save Trystan!

Davi: With each clue you uncover, you’ll inch closer to solving the case and unveiling the secrets that lie at the heart of Trystan’s dark past. And like Book 1, you’ll have the opportunity to collect a set of eight possible clues, leading to a bonus ending scene if you find them all.

What did you enjoy the most about creating Crimes of Passion 2?

Coral: Drakovia was such a fun place to get to visit and write about. It was important to us that we make Drakovia’s history and mood stand out from other kingdoms in the Choices universe. There’s glitz and glamor of course, but this is a mystery series! We needed murder, intrigue, dark secrets... and siblings who never quite mean what they say. Creating Drakovia’s unique (and sometimes a little medieval) traditions was one of the most rewarding parts of my career at Pixelberry so far. Also Trystan's siblings. Have we mentioned how cool (and scary!) the siblings are? Astrid, please date me.

If there is one takeaway you'd want players to get out of Crimes 2, what would it be?

Coral: Crimes is such a complex series with a plethora of loose threads to pull at. We hope in returning to the series, we’ve done these beloved characters justice, and that most of your burning questions are answered. But even a sequel has to maintain a hint of mystery…
