A Message From Ukraine
Last week our Support Team received a heartbreaking message from a Choices player from Ukraine. We asked for their permission to share their message with all of you and promised to keep their identity anonymous:
"Hello, Pixelberry team,
A few months ago I sent you a letter in which I shared my story and how "Choices" helped me to live through hard times.
Wednesday evening, 23 of February, was the last time I've had a chance to read 'Wake the Dead' in peace. Today, Thursday the 3rd, my country is in a state of war I and my fellow Ukrainians never wanted, for already more than a week. We have a lot of civil losses, a lot of children have already died, because russian army intendly destroys peaceful villages and districts in big cities.
They use weapons banned by Geneva Conventions, they shoot civilians on the streets, they shoot at Ambulance cars and buses full of people who try to evacuate. Just a few hours ago they launched a rocket on the Kyiv train station, and thank God, our army destroyed it in the air, so just a fragment of it got there.
This is not some civil conflict in some country in a far place. This is a war IN Europe.
Just eight days ago my country was the same as any other. We were sitting in the cafes, watching the new Netflix series, playing video games, talking about fashion, books, and culture. We were ordering pizza and sushi to our apartments, and going to the cinema to watch the new 'Spider-Man movie'.
Now all Ukrainias are fighting - some on the front, some on the rear volunteering, helping those on the front.
I'm writing this not to get some words of pity. I'm Ukrainian, so I'm a fighter. The only thing I really ask you is to share the word and not be quiet. Just one post on Instagram would be enough. We have two main ways to help us financially, but I wouldn't dare to ask you about that. Just to support Ukraine and all your users from here by informing that you're standing with us. You can't imagine how enough it is to help us morally and psychologically."
When our team discussed what to do next, we decided to bring this to light on our platform and in our studio, to raise awareness on how we can share hope and help. Our team members will be donating to nonprofits focused on food and health assistance. If you are inspired to join us, below are some resources:
Thank you for taking time to read this. Everything going on in the world can be very overwhelming to take in. Our hearts are united with everyone affected by these extraordinarily difficult times.
To all our Ukrainian players, we stand by you. We see your strength, your courage, and your resilience.
Take care always,
The Pixelberry Team
